New technology is providing seniors with the opportunity to remain in their homes long-term, addressing the community's discontent towards relocating throughout their final years. Known as SOFI, the new-age software was launched in April this year by Unisono Pty Ltd, and was showcased to Mackay at the annual SEGRA conference last week at the MECC. Utilising sensors placed around the consumer's home to distinguish between the individual's normal and abnormal daily behaviour, the technology passively engages with the user and designated carer to ensure that the safety and independence of the consumer are seamlessly met and monitored. In three weeks, Regan placed in 45 of the 47 performances he featured in - as a soloist and a group member - in what has been his most comprehensive and lucrative competition calendar yet. His enviable dedication has most prominently been showcased through his ballet performances, where the training and strength of character required has challenged Regan throughout the year. And yet far from deterring him, the challenge has only made him work that much harder, lauding his victory as his greatest achievement among the many accolades he has earned. "I wanted the championship, I wanted this more than anything else,” Regan said. "Everyone thinks ballet is for girls...but to step up and win it, I was happy. |
